wo motorcycle riders were killed after a bus crashed into them in the Jagahati area of Sadar upazila on the Jashore–Chaugachha road on Saturday night.
The deceased were identified as Selim Hossain, 35, son of Afil Uddin of village Alisa Jadunathpur in Maheshpur upazila of Jhenaidah, and Ibrahim Hossain, 38, son of Tahajjal Hossain.
Police said that the victims were heading towards Jashore town when, around 8:45pm, a bus coming from the opposite direction rammed into their motorcycle. Both the men died on the spot. The bus fled immediately after the collision.
On information, personnel from the Sajiali police outpost and the Fire Service recovered the bodies and sent those to the morgue of Jashore 250-bed General Hospital.
SI Abdur Rouf, in charge of the Sajiali outpost, said efforts are underway to collect CCTV footage from the surrounding area to identify the fleeing bus and its driver.
The process of handing over the bodies to their families was in progress, he added.
